• Rare antique Royal Worcester 17 piece dinnerware set
( featured in The Marquis Tablescape)
• White porcelain with deepest cobalt blue hand-painted border with bronze fleur de lys transferware edging
• Royal Worcester porcelain was founded in 1751 by Dr. John Wall, the marks on the back of this set with the crown sitting directly atop the crest and the X below indicate that it was made in 1886
• The set includes 8 dinner plates, 8 salad/dessert plates and 1 large platter suitable for turkey or large roast
• Dinner plates measure 9 1/4", salad plates measure 7", very large, heavy platter measures 19" x 15"
* Please note the dinner plates are 9 1/4" European size, smaller than today's standard; in the 7th picture, one of the plates is shown next to a 10 1/2" plate so that you can see the size comparison
• This set is in amazing condition, purchased from an estate sale in Massachusetts; believed to have been used only for display, probably on a dresser, which explains the excellent condition; no crazing or chips, tiny indentations on back of platter from a hanger, there are no chips or cracks.
